Victorian Fashion Card Set – Reference List

Wed Oct 22, 2008, 5:54 PM
A while ago I uploaded a set of Victorian fashion cards (can be found in my gallery) and I promised that I would post a list of sights I got my information from. Here it is.

Nineteenth-Century Fashions: A Compendium [link]
Mainly just lovely photos of vintage dress, but also a bit of a fashion time line with accompanying images.

The Ladies Treasury of Costume and Fashion – Articles Menu [link]
A collection of articles about Victorian and Edwardian fashion. Broken down in to 20-year periods, gives a good over view of each period.

The Victorian Web - What Victorians Wore: An Overview of Victorian Costume [link]
A nice collection of articles relating to fashion in the Victorian era. Here there are articles on fashion from both genders as well as articles on the labor class and the alternative fashion. Not all the articles are about clothing either; hair, hats, footwear and accessories are all covered.

Fashion-Era [link]
Fashion-era contains 695 content rich, illustrated pages of Fashion History, Costume History, Clothing, Fashions and Social History. (According to the site)

La Couturiere Parisienne [link]
Just a lovely sight covering a vast range of fashion eras not just Victorian, with articles and images.

Wikipedia [link] [link] [link] [link]

Yeah, yeah I know half of my lecturers would die to know these links are here, but is a good sight for quick overviews.

Bar the wikipedia links it is good to see the amount of research you put in. You did a very good job with those cards; and this post shows us why.
